Itinerary :

Day 1: Fes – Merzouga (Desert)

On the first day of your 3-day desert tour from Fes to Merzouga, we will pick you up from the airport in Fes or directly from your accommodation at a convenient time. Our journey begins by passing through Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” nestled in the middle of the Atlas Mountains.

We will continue towards the desert, visiting the legendary Cedar Forest in Azrou, home to curious monkeys. Our route then takes us to Midelt, from where we will cross the Tizi N’Tlghomt mountains, arriving at the Errachidia reservoir and enjoying the magnificent panorama of the Ziz Valley, lined with palm trees and Berber adobe villages.

Upon arrival in Erfoud, an important oasis city in Morocco, we will proceed to the Erg-Chebbi desert of Merzouga. You will arrive at the desert’s doorstep at sunset and stay at our La Source hostel, a traditional adobe Kasbah at the foot of the Merzouga dunes.

Day 2: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes

You are now in the heart of the desert, surrounded by the magical dunes. In the morning, before the heat intensifies, we will take a 4×4 vehicle to explore the area. Our first stop will be at the home of a Gnawa or Bambara family, descendants of slaves from Black Africa, who will entertain us with their traditional music.

Next, we will venture into the dunes, following parts of the Paris-Dakar Rally route, and meet some nomadic families living in this vast expanse of sand and stone. This will be an authentic adventure! Afterward, we will return to the hotel and leave the 4×4 behind.

In the afternoon, we will ride camels, often referred to as the “8×8 of the desert,” taking us to the heart of the desert to witness an unforgettable sunset. We will have dinner and spend the night in Haimas, traditional tents, in the middle of the desert.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert – Fes

On the final day, we will rise early to admire the sunrise among the dunes. Afterward, we will return to our hotel, La Source, where you can enjoy a hearty breakfast and a refreshing shower. We will then begin our journey back to Fes, concluding our 3-day desert tour by dropping you off at the RIAD where you have booked your accommodation.
